How to choose a suitable granulation process for antioxidants?
When selecting a granulation process for antioxidants, the properties of the raw materials are the primary consideration
Raw material properties are the primary consideration when selecting an antioxidant granulation process. If there are significant differences in raw material properties, such as different melting points and particle sizes of antioxidant raw materials, the easy-mixing granulation process is more suitable. Its powerful mixing system enables uniform mixing and granulation of various raw materials. For raw materials that require melt blending, the twin-screw granulation process, with the shearing and extrusion of two screws, allows for rapid melting and mixing of the raw materials, suitable for processing most thermoplastic antioxidant raw materials. The cold-pressing granulation process is suitable for heat-sensitive antioxidant raw materials that cannot withstand high-temperature processing, as it does not require heating and preserves the original chemical composition and plasticizing properties of the raw materials.
Product requirements are equally critical. If extremely high requirements are placed on the uniformity and shape of product particles, the twin-screw granulation process produces particles with high uniformity and regular shape, better meeting the needs; particles produced by the easy-mixing granulation process can also meet the strict requirements of most industries for appearance and physical properties. If the product is used in fields sensitive to impurities and performance changes, such as the food additive industry, the cold-pressing granulation process is preferred due to its characteristics of not altering raw material properties and producing few impurities.
Production scale also affects process selection. In large-scale production, the advantages of high production efficiency and high degree of automation of twin-screw granulators can be fully utilized to reduce the production cost per unit product; the automated control system of the easy-mixing granulation process can also meet the requirements of large-scale production for precision and efficiency. For small-scale production, the low energy consumption and simple equipment of the cold-pressing granulator make it more cost-effective.
